hey! =)Five days spent in sgh with Benita and two adorable juniors..let me recall.. Mon Business office. Did "estimated hospital bills" before lunch. Arranged folders after lunch. Really resisted the strong and sudden urge to sleep halfway through. Tues Business office. Got aqquainted with juniors. Arranged folders all day. Boring. Wed Retail cart!! Met so interesting ppl! Two ladies were terrified of caterpillar-printed hair clips. haha. provided sufficient entertainment. Benita and I finally realised why shop owners or sales people keep staring or looking at you while you shopped. It was because they had nothing else to do. Haha. Made $110 plus that day. We sold bags of all sizes, hair clips, christmas cards, notebooks and photoframes. Really liked a purse/bag there, but I was kinda broke after shopping for birthday presents and seniors' farewell gifts. Face ached after smiling for so long. Learnt important social communication lessons. Thurs Specialists outpatients clinic D. Kinda like counter work. There were four ppl at the counters, a cashier, a lady for fixing appointments, and two ladies for registration. After they had registered, we had to find the patients' files and bring them to the room assigned after attaching bills and doing all sorts of sticker stuff pasting with the patients' names on the bills. It was confusing. It was VERY confusing at first. Really. went for lunch, came back and did the same thing=] at least it was better than the business office cos this is not that boring and the four ladies at the counter were incredibly charming=] Fri Specialists outpatients clinic D. Did the same thing. We were awarded an apple and some tidbits before lunch. After lunch we were told to take tea break cos there was nothing for us to do. So we got to know how to go to the tea room. Drank super diluted milo it tasted like drain water. Benita kindly complimented it as flavoured water. =) Felt sad to leave after the 5 days. The clinic we were at specialised in colorectal surgery. Haha. Go find out what it stands for if you want. And on Thurs there was general surgery also. The next week starts my week and KK hospital. This week has been fun but super exhausting, especially with the balancing with the sardines every morning in the mad rush to work in the train. You could say that there was absolutely no poles or wall to hold too and I was always squashed in between humans. So you either learn how to balance or risk losing your dignity as you fall on someone's back, chest, or body.. It made it quite tough for me as I was almost suffocating due to my humble height. Farts in the enclosed area really pissed me off. Can't they hold it in?? Not only in the morning, but we also had to crammed in with the people going off work everyday. It was experiencial. Terribly so. And I learnt how to walk like I'm flying. Cos otherwise I would received "tsk"s from ppl behind cos I was walking too slowly. On the first day I was actually swept by the human tide from the green line to the purple line. I guess I was zombie-ing on that day. I've got a mental map of the ground level of sgh by now=] and i guess it's back to the balancing game again next week! p.s. sgh stands for singapore general hospital (jus in case you didn't know=]) |
